Depart the military-origin tarmac strip at Buochs nestled directly under Mount Bürgenstock. You will track south along the deep blue waters of Lake Lucerne before initiating an immediate high-performance climb past the crags of Mount Titlis. Crossing the Haslital valley near Meiringen, you enter the glacial basin of Lake Brienz, following its northern shore for a low-level arrival into the historic Interlaken airbase (LSMI).

The centerpiece mountain leg of the circuit. Departing Interlaken across Lake Thun, you turn south to execute a dramatic run alongside the massive north faces of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. You will thread your aircraft through the high-altitude Grimsel Pass (elevation 7,100 ft MSL), passing directly over the turquoise Grimselsee reservoir and the source of the Rhone River before descending into the long, sun-drenched Valais valley for an IFR/VFR approach into Sion (LSGS). The final leg climbs eastward back up the Rhone Valley past the ancient village of Brig before tracking south over the historic Simplon Pass. Crossing into Italian airspace, you follow the narrow alpine valleys toward the Mediterranean-style climate of the Ticino canton. The flight concludes with a dramatic descent over Lake Maggiore to land at Locarno Airport (LSZL), situated right at the lake edge at just 650 ft above sea level.
