Preparation · 4

Establish a known safe cockpit state before inspecting the aircraft.

  1. Release the control wheel restraint/belts and leave avionics switched off.
  2. Use the master switch briefly to check fuel quantity indications, then switch it back off.
  3. Confirm ignition/magnetos are off before going outside.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · §4.5 Preflight Check · p4-3

Walk around the aircraft and confirm the exterior is clean, unobstructed and ready for the simulated flight.

  1. Inspect the exterior and control surfaces/hinges for damage or interference.
  2. Confirm wings and control surfaces are free of ice, snow or frost.
  3. Remove the pitot cover and confirm pitot/static openings and air inlets are clear.
  4. Check windshield, propeller/spinner and cowling condition.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · §4.5 Preflight Check · p4-3

Verify the consumables and visible ground-contact components before boarding.

  1. Check fuel supply/quantity, visually secure caps, drain fuel sumps and confirm vents are open.
  2. Check oil level and look for visible fuel/oil leaks.
  3. Check tyres, brakes and main/nose gear strut condition.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · §4.5 Preflight Check · p4-3

Finish the preflight with the cabin arranged for flight.

PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · §4.5 Preflight Check · p4-3
Startup · 5

Set the basic fuel/air/electrical state before cranking.

  1. Brakes set.
  2. Carburettor heat fully OFF.
  3. Select the desired fuel tank.
  4. Radios/avionics OFF for start.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Before Starting Engine · p4-4

When the simulator context suggests a cold start, use the Piper cold-start sequence rather than a generic start.

  1. Open the throttle slightly, about a quarter inch.
  2. Set the master switch ON.
  3. Set the electric fuel pump ON.
  4. Set the mixture FULL RICH.
  5. Engage the starter.
  6. When the engine fires, adjust the throttle to a stable idle/warm-up setting.
  7. Confirm oil pressure promptly after start.
  8. If it has not started after about 10 seconds of cranking, stop and use the documented prime/retry approach rather than continuous cranking.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Starting Engine When Cold · p4-4

For a warm engine, use the documented hot-start setup instead of merely repeating the cold-start sequence.

  1. Open the throttle about half an inch.
  2. Set the master switch ON.
  3. Set the electric fuel pump ON.
  4. Set the mixture FULL RICH.
  5. Engage the starter.
  6. When the engine fires, adjust the throttle to a stable idle/warm-up setting.
  7. Confirm oil pressure after start.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Starting Engine When Hot · p4-4

If the simulated engine is flooded, use the separate Piper recovery sequence rather than adding more fuel.

  1. Open the throttle fully.
  2. Set the master switch ON.
  3. Set the electric fuel pump OFF.
  4. Set the mixture to IDLE CUT-OFF.
  5. Engage the starter.
  6. As the engine catches, progressively enrich the mixture while reducing throttle.
  7. Confirm oil pressure once the engine is running.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Starting Engine When Flooded · p4-4

Do not go directly from start to run-up; stabilise the engine in the documented warm-up range.

  1. Set approximately 800–1200 RPM for warm-up.
  2. Wait for stable indications before taxi/run-up.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Warm-up · p4-4
Taxi / Run-up · 2

Confirm the aircraft can move and stop normally before continuing to the run-up point.

  1. Confirm chocks are removed and the taxi area is clear.
  2. Apply throttle smoothly.
  3. Check brakes early in the taxi.
  4. Check steering/directional control.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Taxiing · p4-4

Use the documented run-up values and indications before departure.

  1. Set about 2000 RPM for the run-up.
  2. Check magnetos: maximum single drop about 175 RPM and maximum left/right difference about 50 RPM.
  3. Check vacuum indication around 5.0 inHg and verify oil temperature/oil pressure are normal.
  4. Air conditioning OFF; press-to-test the annunciator panel; check carburettor heat operation.
  5. Confirm the engine accepts throttle without faltering, then electric fuel pump OFF and check fuel pressure.
  6. Return the throttle toward idle after the checks.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Ground Check · p4-4
Takeoff · 3

Set the Warrior into a known departure configuration before entering the runway.

  1. Master switch ON; flight instruments checked; proper fuel tank selected.
  2. Electric fuel pump ON; engine gauges checked; carburettor heat OFF.
  3. Seat backs upright; mixture set; primer locked.
  4. Belts/harnesses fastened and adjusted; empty-seat belts snug.
  5. Set flaps and trim for the chosen takeoff; controls free and correct.
  6. Doors latched; air conditioner OFF.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Before Takeoff · p4-5

For a normal departure, use the Piper normal takeoff profile rather than a generic rotation cue.

  1. Set flaps/trim as planned and align on the runway.
  2. Accelerate through roughly 45–55 KIAS.
  3. Apply smooth back pressure to rotate into the climb attitude.
  4. Transition to the selected climb speed once airborne.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Takeoff — Normal · p4-5

The supplied POH has distinct short-field and soft-field procedures; select one only when it matches the simulated runway/mission.

  1. Short-field with obstacle: use 25° flap, lift/climb at about 52 KIAS until clear, then accelerate toward 79 KIAS and retract flaps gradually.
  2. Short-field without obstacle: flaps up, rotate around 50 KIAS, then accelerate toward the 79 KIAS best-rate climb.
  3. Soft-field: use 25° flap, lift off as early as practical, remain in ground effect while accelerating, then establish the appropriate climb and retract flaps gradually.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Takeoff — Short/Soft Field · p4-5
Climb · 1

Use the documented climb target that matches the situation.

  1. Best-rate climb (flaps up): about 79 KIAS.
  2. Best-angle climb (flaps up): about 63 KIAS.
  3. En-route climb: about 87 KIAS.
  4. Once established at the desired altitude, manage the electric fuel pump in accordance with the normal procedure.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Climb · p4-5
Cruise · 1

Transition from climb to the Warrior normal cruise configuration.

  1. Use the aircraft performance data to choose the cruise power setting.
  2. Treat approximately 75% as the normal maximum cruise-power reference from the supplied material.
  3. Set power from the applicable table and adjust mixture for the chosen cruise condition.
  4. Continue monitoring engine and fuel indications.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Cruising · p4-5
Descent · 2

Use the documented normal-descent reference as the starting point, then adapt to the simulated arrival.

  1. Set roughly 2500 RPM for the normal descent reference.
  2. Use about 126 KIAS as the documented normal-descent airspeed reference.
  3. Mixture RICH and carburettor heat ON when required.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Descent — Normal · p4-5

If deliberately using a power-off descent, use the separate Piper guidance rather than treating it like the normal descent.

  1. Carburettor heat ON when required; throttle closed.
  2. Choose airspeed and mixture as appropriate to the simulated situation.
  3. Periodically verify power availability rather than leaving the engine at prolonged idle without checks.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Descent — Power Off · p4-6
Approach · 1

Complete the documented landing setup before final approach.

  1. Select the proper fuel tank and bring seat backs upright.
  2. Fasten/adjust belts and harnesses.
  3. Electric fuel pump ON and mixture set.
  4. Set flaps only within the documented flap-extension speed limit (103 KIAS maximum).
  5. Air conditioner OFF and trim for the approach.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Approach and Landing · p4-6
Landing · 1

Use the supplied landing reference once configured and stable.

  1. With full landing flap (40°), use about 63 KIAS as the documented final-approach reference.
  2. Confirm the runway and landing configuration remain suitable before touchdown.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Approach and Landing · p4-6
After Landing · 1

The supplied pages do not define a separate After Landing checklist, so RFoV keeps this step deliberately high-level.

  1. Clear the runway before reconfiguring.
  2. Return to a normal taxi configuration and continue monitoring brakes/steering.
  3. Prepare the aircraft for the documented stopping-engine sequence once parked.
RFoV Situational Context · RFoV phase bridge · based on Taxiing / Stopping Engine
Parking · 1

Once stopped, use the Piper parking items before leaving the simulator aircraft.

  1. Parking brake SET.
  2. Secure the control wheel using the belts/restraint.
  3. Flaps fully UP.
  4. Place wheel chocks and secure tie-downs when modelling those ground actions.
PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II — Section 4 Normal Procedures · Parking · p4-6
Shutdown · 1

Use the documented shutdown order rather than a generic “engine off” prompt.

  1. Retract flaps and switch electric fuel pump OFF.
  2. Air conditioner and radios/avionics OFF.
  3. Throttle fully aft/idle.
  4. Mixture to IDLE CUT-OFF and allow the engine to stop.
  5. Magnetos/ignition OFF, then master switch OFF.
